| Clinton Darling, the town undertaker, built this barn around 1900 to house horses and a carriage used both for funerals and for carrying firefighting equipment. Originally on Landing Avenue, the barn was moved to its present site behind the Epenetus Smith Tavern on Middle Country Road in 1988. The ceiling was raised to improve circulation and acoustics, and now the Frank Brush Barn serves as a meeting place for a variety of organizations dedicated to preserving traditional music, dance, and other aspects of Long Island’s cultural history. |
