THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY is located at 239 Middle County Road (route 25) on a 22 acre park like property just east of downtown Smithtown NY. in the Village of The Branch.

Visitors to the property are often surprised by the old time feeling created by the meadows, unpaved roads, large trees, barns and historic buildings.Four historic buildings and two barns, listed below, are on the main site. The Arthur Farm Barn is home to our domestic animal collection, and the Frank Brush Barn is home to the society's numerous public events in addition to many community organizations and the occasional private family gathering.

The property is open year round but is best visited during a public event when the buildings are open to visitors. Our largest public event is the Heritage Country Fair held each year in September. The grounds are full of activities, the barn animals are on display, and the buildings are open and staffed by our historians in period costumes.
